Wanuskewin is looking for a full or part-time Banquet Captain in our Culinary department. Reporting to the Director, Hospitality, this position will encompass all aspects of food and beverage banquet and catering service at Wanuskewin Heritage Park.
Duties:
– Organize and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO) to plan the execution of room setups and food service to our meeting rooms
– Assist in room set up and tear down for banquet events
– Service rooms during banquets and meetings including delivering menu items to rooms, clearing tables and banquet tables
– Set up and trouble shoot A/V requirements
– Coach banquet serving staff on steps of service
– Prepare and ensure room set up check sheets and closing check sheets are being processed
– Meet with conveners and go over their BEO or contract to ensure they have everything they need for the day
– Attend weekly BEO meetings
– Schedule banquet staff
– Participate in banquet server coaching, mentoring, and discipline plan
– Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
– A minimum of five years of related experience in hospitality service
– A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered
– Demonstrated understanding of customer service
– Understanding of Microsoft Suite as well as point of sale systems, audio/visual equipment
– Customer Service Certificate an asset
– CPR/First aid an asset
– Knowledge of Plains Indigenous cultures an asset
– Knowledge of restaurant and catering methodologies and practices
– Pleasant attitude working with the public
– Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently
– Able to procure a satisfactory criminal record check
– Reliable transportation to and from place of work
