Join us for a Teacher Appreciation Weekend with cultural programming and educator information sessions to see how Wanuskewin can support Indigenous connections for your students!
Come out to Wanuskewin for a Teacher Appreciation Weekend on April 12 & 13, 2025!
The weekend will feature a variety of cultural programming, our Indigenous Artisan Market, a powwow dance presentation, and teacher information sessions.
Learn more about how you can include Wanuskewin’s programming and resources in your classroom, whether on-site for a field trip, at your school through outreach, or virtually with our online video series.


This weekend will be a FREE admission weekend for all educators, including teachers, EAs, ECEs, homeschool teachers, post-secondary instructors, education students, and workplace educators.
Families of educators will get in for a reduced family rate of $20.
(Regular admission rates still apply for all other visitors.)
The weekend will feature:
- Indigenous Artisan Market
- Door Prizes and Raffle
- enter for a chance to win door prizes, 1-year family membership, or even a field trip for your class
- Information Sessions in the morning
- the first session will focus on field trips, self-guided materials, outreach, and early childhood and young learners
- the second session will focus on French language programming options
- Information tables
- The chance to trial our self-guided materials
- And a variety of cultural programming


Schedule:
9:30 a.m. – Site open for the day
10:00 a.m. – Tipi Teachings (inside)
11:00 a.m. – General Educator and ECE Information Session (30 minutes)
11:30 a.m. – French Programming Information Session (30 minutes)
12:00 p.m. – Native Plant Walk (outside)
1:00 p.m. – Dance Presentation
2:00 p.m. – Drop-in Bannock Bake in Tipi Village with Muskeg Tea and Hot Chocolate (outside)
3:30 p.m. – Traditional Games
5:00 p.m. – Site closed for day
