Join us for a Teacher Appreciation Day with cultural programming and teacher focused information sessions to see how Wanuskewin can support Indigenous connections for your students!
Come out to Wanuskewin and join us for a Teacher Appreciation Day on Sunday, October 20, 2024!
The day features a variety of cultural programming, our Indigenous Artisan Market, a powwow dance feature, and teacher information sessions. Learn more about how you can include Wanuskewin’s programming and resources in your classroom, whether on-site for a field trip, at your school through outreach, or virtually with our online video series.
This one day will be a FREE admission weekend for all educators, including teachers, EAs, ECEs, homeschool teachers, post-secondary instructors, education students, and workplace educators.
Families of educators will get in for a reduced family rate of $20.
(Regular admission rates still apply for all other visitors.)
The day’s features include:
- Indigenous Artisan Market
- Door Prizes and Raffle
- enter for a chance to win door prizes, 1-year family membership, or even a field trip for your class
- Information Sessions in the morning and afternoon
- the first session will focus on field trips, self-guided materials, outreach, and French programming questions
- the second session will focus on field trips and outreach for early childhood and young learners
- Information tables
- The chance to trial our self-guided materials
- and a variety of our cultural programming to participate in!
Schedule:
9:30 a.m. – Site open for the day
10:00 a.m. – Tipi Teachings (inside)
11:00 a.m. – General Educator Information Session (30 minutes)
11:30 a.m. – Early Childhood Information Session (30 minutes)
12:00 p.m. – Step Back in Time Walk (outside)
1:00 p.m. – ᒪᐦᐃᐦᑲᐣ mahihkanak youth Dance Troupe with Curtis Peeteetuce
2:00 p.m. – General Educator Information Session (30 minutes)
2:30 p.m. – Early Childhood Information Session (30 minutes)
3:00 p.m. – Drop-in Bannock Bake in Tipi Village with Muskeg Tea and Hot Chocolate (outside)
3:30 p.m. – Traditional Games and Northern Plains Technology (inside)
5:00 p.m. – Site closed for day
