Whether you want to spend time exploring the Visitor Centre’s permanent exhibits or art galleries, or take in the beauty of the opimihāw Valley, there is a variety of things to do self-guided at Wanuskewin. Explore the site in any season with snowshoes available in the winter months (pending enough snow to protect the trails).
Trail System
Walk our nearly 7km trail system to take in the nature and history of the opimihāw Valley. You can see the trail map here.
Tipi Village
Our Tipi Village is a short walk from the building and features up to four 18′ Plains Cree style tipis throughout the year.
Bison Herd
Walk to our Viewing Platform for a chance to see our conservation bison herd grazing or wallowing on the Plains.

Gift Shop
Do some shopping at our on-site Gift Shop, open 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekdays (Monday – Friday) and 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
Restaurant
Enjoy a meal or snack in our on-site Restaurant, open 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
Public Dance / Music Presentation
Our afternoon Public Dance / Music Presentation give visitors, the chance to see a variety of Indigenous dance styles at no extra cost! This runs daily from May to September long weekend, and on weekends the rest of the year.
Playground
Burn off some energy at our playground or enjoy your lunch at our picnic benches!
