9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Join artist Jocelyne Chief  to learn some teachings behind Métis connections to floral patterns, beadwork, and the land, and how to make your own beaded floral piece!

Beaded Métis and Plains Cree Floral:
This flower pattern is created around a metal cab placed in the centre of the flower. The metal cab replaces the pistil of a flower that would be found in nature. The outline of each petal is connected and created with the same amount of beads to create a symmetrical and even flower. The colours that are used are personal choices chosen by each artist. The flower can be beaded on to hide, or pellon felt. The flowers can be created into anything the artist wants, such as a pin, a keychain, or a pair of earrings. The flowers in this photo were created into a pair of earrings.

*We will provide all materials in a beading package for you as part of your registration.*

Free parking and admission to the site, trails, and exhibits are included in the cost.
Our restaurant will be open, or you can feel free to bring your own lunch.
Coffee, tea, and water will be provided as refreshments.

*Thank you to Saskatoon Community Foundation for their support of this workshop and supplementing costs though the Community Fund for Reconciliation Grant.
