Join Ethnobotanist, Archeologist, Author, and Educator Sandra Walker this Saturday to learn more about ethnobotany, native plants, and other connections to the ecology all around us
Sun, Oct 6 – program schedule:
• 9:30 a.m. – Site Opens (trails open, scavenger hunts, and self guided)
• 11:00 a.m. – Plant Walk and archaeology info table with Sandra Walker
• 1:00 p.m. – Jingle Dance Presentation & stories – Tianna McCabe
• 2:00 p.m. – Drop-In traditional games station!
• 3:00 p.m. – Plant Walk and info table with Sandra Walker
• 5:00 p.m. – full site (including trails and playground) CLOSED
Self Guided opportunities through the day (trails, exhibits, both galleries, story area, scavenger hunts, gift shop, restaurant, and playground!)
Sandra Walker
Sandra Walker is an accomplished ethnobotanist and educator who has spent her life first learning about wild foods and plants and then teaching others about them. Born in Hamilton, she kindled her interest wild plants when planting trees in Northern Canada and cooking on a solar stove in the wilderness with her husband. Sandra has worked as an educator in Saskatchewan for major local nature centres, school systems and as a presenter and facilitator at Wanuskewin.
Sandra has a double honours degree in Archaeology/Anthropology and fine arts from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a nature columnist and author of several publications, books, and educational plans.
